Setting up the models for this painting was a lot of fun. A group of friends agreed to don bits of costume and the personas of characters I'd invented to illustrate a 'Banjo' Paterson poem. Gathered around a mate's fine billiards table the blokes set up a game that was played in real time, interrupted just now and then by my pleas of 'don't look at the camera, pretend I'm not here!' Everyone relaxed as the pretty 'barmaids' served up real ales.
