Pearl and Abalone
Oils on Linen  56 x 66 cms  (22 x 26 ins) In a private collection.

Here's a man with a dream: To develop  the Ultimate Pearl. At this stage, he's not able to say what form or colour  it will take. So the pearl is shown as a Round White, reflecting all the  colours of the iridescent shell on which it is displayed. The sitter made  history as the first professional abalone diver at Port Lincoln, South  Australia. His catch is shown bouyed by the yellow balloon used by the  divers. Above him, the circling sharks refer to his daring contribution to  testing the shark-proof cage developed by a friend and now used world-wide.
